Internship Program Supervisor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Margaret graduated in 2004 from Northern Arizona University with her Bachelor’s in Social Work. She went on to Arizona State University completing her Master’s of Social Work in 2006. Margaret also specialized and graduated with a certificate in Child Welfare while at ASU and spent 5 years working with children and families.  In 2011 she transitioned to medical social work in Sun City, Arizona. There her focus was working with families and patients on the oncology unit. In the last 4 years Margaret has shifted her focus to clinical work both with individuals and group therapy.

The focus of her clinical work has been working with individuals diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and she has completed her EMDR training (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing). She also facilitates an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy group weekly. Group therapy is an essential part of her practice and she believes that connections with others make us feel less alone and better able to move through the inevitable difficulties of life. She is passionate about sharing the effects of stress on body and mind as well as the importance of mindfulness practices in daily life. Margaret believes that each of us have inherent characteristics to heal ourselves in order to lead more authentic, grounded life.

In her free time Margaret enjoys spending time with her family, camping, hiking and is an avid lover of all books.
