Dr. Elizabeth Metzger is a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She completed her undergraduate and doctoral degrees at Arizona State University, and she is board certified in Tele-Mental Health. She has many years of experience in both medical-surgical and acute psychiatric care, and she works closely with pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.
Dr. Metzger sees patients ages 5 years and older, and she especially loves working with children. She is empathetic to the fears that parents face when deciding upon treatment for a child, and she strives to create a safe and comfortable environment in which parents and children can express their concerns and participate in treatment planning. She believes that mental health care is a collaborative approach between the family, school, therapy, and medicine, and she strives to incorporate complimentary therapies (such as good nutrition and exercise) when possible.
Dr. Metzger holds a special place in her heart for pregnant/postpartum women and their families. She is board certified in Perinatal Mental Health, a member of the Infant Toddler Mental Health Coalition of Arizona, and is active with Postpartum Support International. Dr. Metzger appreciates how hard it is to be a mother (she has two young children of her own), and she strives to help women overcome their mental health challenges so that they can enjoy motherhood and feel confident in their parenting abilities.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Metzger enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, long walks, good books, and hot cups of coffee. She was born and raised in AZ, her favorite animal is a goat, and she loves all things chocolate.
