Build Basic Installer Tutorial / Part 4

On the Layout panel...

  1. Select the Look and Feel radio button you'd like.
The Native look is very popular, but many people prefer Nimbus or Synth. Nimbus is only available with Java 1.6.0_10 or later. If you select this option and the user's machine is running 1.5 and you configure JExpress to accept Java 1.5, then the installer will automatically use the Native look.
  2. Depending on the Look and feel you selected, you may be able to select a Theme and Colors to enhance the look.
  3. Click the Browse button next to the Minimized image filename and highlight the hello.icon.png filename and click OK.
  4. Click the Browse button next to the Image filename. Highlight the hello-West.png filename and click OK.
  5. Set the Image position to West.
If you want to use an image in the background, then you must make sure there is enough open space in the center of the image for the installer to show the progress bar and other components. In other words, be sure to test to make sure that your image and the installer look right.
  6. Set the Button position to South and the Style to Icons and text.
  7. Click the Next button

When you're finished, then click Next.
